Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of physical examinations twice a year. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Tracy Combs, nursing team member, monitoring an anesthetized patient.Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding: We are happy to provide boarding service for our clients. We will keep your cat, dog, bird or exotic while you are away from home, and you can call to check on them anytime we're open. If medical attention is needed, they'll be in the right place to receive care from their own doctor!

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental radiographs, tooth extractions, bonded sealant application and minor oral surgery.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:
  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.  

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with other independent cardiology specialists.

Emergencies:  For after hours emergencies we refer to Valley Veterinary Emergency and Referral Center (540) 662-7811.  The clinic is located on Costello Drive off of 522 South in Winchester, VA (across from Costco).

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for CBC, General Chemistry, thyroid monitoring, fecal, urinalysis, electrolytes, clotting/coagulation screening, Progesterone testing, heartworm testing, Lyme disease screening (and other tick borne illnesses), Parvovirus, Giardia, Bile Acids, FeLV/FIV, cytology, and fungal cultures.  We also offer a full-range of additional test abilities sent to an outside lab such as cytology, urine cultures, fructosamine for monitoring diabetics, exotic profiles, therapeutic drug monitoring, disease antibody testing, and autoimmune profiles. 

Permanent identification: We offer microchip implants as a permanent identification option.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern computerized X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We have the capablity of having a Board Certified Radiologist review X-Rays to assist with diagnosis.
Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.  These procedures include but are not limited to:  Castration, Cystotomy and Bladder Stone Removal/Analysis, Entropion, Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO), TPLO, Gastropexy guided by Endoscopy, Ferret Adrenalectomy/Insulinoma, Intestinal Biopsies/Resection/Anastamosis, Limb Amputation, Liver Mass Removals/Lobectomy, Mastectomy, Nephrectomy, Ovariohysterectomy, Splenectomy, Thyroidectomy, and other advanced soft tissue procedures.
