Wellness Exams
We know that a complete physical examination is important in keeping pets happy and healthy. That’s why we recommend regular examinations and up-to-date vaccinations for your pet’s well-being.
Pets older than 7 years of age should receive semi-annual exams and have routine geriatric blood panels to screen for early signs of disease. It is important to remember that pets age faster than people, and regular veterinary care is critical in ensuring a long healthy life.
Vaccinations
At Linden Heights Animal Hospital, we believe that one of the most important aspects of caring for your pet’s health is vaccinating him or her against potential diseases. Our vaccination recommendations are tailored to your individual pet’s lifestyle, and it’s important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We are happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations and provide you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet.
Nutritional Counseling
Proper nutrition, along with fresh, clean water, is an essential ingredient for your pet’s overall good health and is the most significant health variable that you can control. Many diseases can be addressed with dietary changes, and we carry a wide range of Hills and Royal Canin prescription foods and supplements for that purpose.
Feeding your pet the highest-quality food you can afford is one of the best ways you can contribute to his or her health and vitality. We can give you important information on proper serving size, nutrient needs, and feeding strategies for your individual pet, as well as help you navigate pet food claims so you can make the most informed choices. Making the best nutritional choices for your dog or cat not only affects general health but will improve the quality and length of your pet’s life.
About 30% of dogs take supplements for age-related problems. To achieve optimal health, we recommend year-round heartworm and parasite prevention for all pets.

Permanent Identification
Losing a pet is a frightening experience that can have devastating consequences; more than 10 million pets get lost each year. Approximately 90 percent of those found would not have been returned to their owners without permanent pet identification, which is why we recommend microchipping your pet.
The Linden Heights Animal Hospital team can implant a small microchip to permanently identify your pet in case they ever are lost or missing. The microchip is the size of a grain of rice and has a code that can be referenced on the website of the manufacturer of the chip. The code corresponds with contact information like your name, address, and phone number, and is accessible to a vet or animal control officer who finds your pet. This makes getting your lost pet back much easier and much more likely.
This is important for cats as well, since most indoor cats do not wear identification and can easily sneak outside.
